Subject: [oscg-general] PostgreSQL 9.0.3 psql termcap issue

Folks,

I'm evaluating the OpenSCG PostgreSQL 9.0.3 .deb package for an
internal application. The install is cake, and everything goes as
described. However, upon configuring and starting my cluster, I'm
unable to connect via psql. It fails like so:

postgres@opsdb003:~$ psql
psql (9.0.3)
Type "help" for help.

Cannot read termcap database;
using dumb terminal settings.
Aborted

Searching, it appears that this issue also manifests in the
EnterpriseDB package for 9.0.x (for x > 1).  There's a fix described
that involves building and installing termcap from source, but there's
a ... strong preference against that kind of thing in our environment.
 Is anyone else experiencing this issue? If so, have you found a
better work-around than manually building the relevant package(s)?

Thanks.
